I began talking to you on Monday about the fact that God is always on our side fighting for us. During the hard seasons, that we unfortunately have to walk through, it is imperative that we know this truth. But how can we be so sure that God does indeed always have our back? Firstly, because the Bible tells us that God loves us. And secondly, because the Bible tells us that God wants us to succeed in life. Let me show you what the Bible says about God's love for us.
““For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.”
John 3:16-17 TLV
There's so much love in this scripture. Can you imagine a love so deep that death was not to high a price to pay for us to be able to have God's salvation. This word Salvation not only means being saved from Hell, but also preservation, wholeness, health and prosperity. God loves us so much he wanted us to have all of this.
“For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “ Abba, Father! ” The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, and if children, also heirs — heirs of God and coheirs with Christ.”
Romans 8:15-17 HCSB
Because of love we've been adopted into the family of God. We can now rightfully call him Daddy God and not only that, he calls us his sons and daughters too.
“For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.””
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
“But the love of the LORD remains forever with those who fear (greatly respect) him. His salvation extends to the children’s children”
Psalms 103:17 NLT
Not only does He love us but He wants that to extend to the future generations too.
We are also told that, He knows us by name (John 10:3), He watched as we were being formed in our mothers womb (Ps. 139:13-16) and He even knows the number of hairs on our head (Luke 12:7). The Bible is so full of scriptures like this I could just keep going. Can you see why I am so sure of the fact that God does indeed love us? If he didn't truly love us he certainly wouldn't do or be what the above scriptures tell us is his nature. Why would he even bother caring?!?
Okay, hopefully by now I've firmly established that God loves us. The second part of knowing that God is always by our side fighting for us, is knowing that he wants us to succeed. I will show you how the Bible reveals that to us on Friday.
