Is There More Than This?

I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” ‭John‬ ‭10:6-10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Do you ever ask yourself the question; does God really want more for me then where I am right now?
I can tell you the answer is emphatically yes!

God has great plans for all of us, but often from looking at our lives you couldn't tell that. Some of us were born under a cloud of less then ideal circumstances. Many of us faced abandonment as a children, abuse or even the death of a parent while growing up. And still others of us are currently facing circumstances that are bad enough to bring the strongest of men to their knees. Praise the Lord, in spite of all of these circumstances, whether past or present, we can know as a matter of fact that God wants more for us then this. These negative circumstances don't have to dictate what our future looks like. If we allow God to guide our future (Prov. 3:5&6), it can be better and brighter than we ever dreamed it would be.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When God himself sees us he certainly doesn't see any of these negative circumstances. Actually, if we have accepted (through the gift of salvation) what Christ did on the cross, then, all that God sees is one of his precious kids. And like every wonderful father he has great plans for us. Just like the above scripture tells us we can know beyond the shadow of any doubt that he wants us to have a life far better than we ever dreamed.

“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God is a good God who wants good things for his children (Ps 27:13). If you'll allow him to direct your steps he will bring you to the abundant life he wants for you. I don't know about you but I for one am glad that our circumstances don't have to dictate our future. On our next teaching we will discuss some of the promises that we have to hold on too.
